Joseph A. Sclafani, MD, QME, is a licensed Interventional Pain Management Physiatrist who is available for PQMEs, AMEs or Independent Medical Evaluations (IMEs) at several locations throughout California.

BIO

Joseph A. Sclafani, MD, QME, received a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular and developmental biology from University of California, Los Angeles, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where he also completed an internship in general surgery. Dr. Sclafani completed a clinical spine fellowship at Spine Institute of San Diego and a residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation (PM&R) was completed at Georgetown University/National Rehabilitation Network. During his residency, he was the recipient of the Georgetown National Rehabilitation Hospital Top Resident in PM&R Award. Dr. Sclafani also completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at Stanford University.

Dr. Sclafani is currently an interventional pain management physician with Apex Pain & Wellness, a research consultant with Milestone Research Organization and a co-founder/board member/developer with Minimally Invasive Spine Centers of Excellence Registry. He has done extensive research in PM&R at the National Institute of Health. Dr. Sclfani’s memberships include American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Association of Academic Physiatrists, North American Spine Society, International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, and American Medical Association.
