BIO
Alexander Thanh Nguyen, MD, QME, graduated with a double major in Biology and Political Science with a minor in Gender Studies along with a Master of Public Health in Global Health Leadership from the University of Southern California. Dr. Nguyen received his Doctor of Medicine degree from University of California Davis and completed a residency in psychiatry at UCLA-Harbor Medical Center in Torrance, CA.
Dr. Nguyen is currently the inpatient psychiatrist and section chief for the Geropsychiatric Unit at the Long Beach VA Medical Center along with being Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of California Riverside. Dr. Nguyen has served as Board of Director for CalOptima from 2016-2020, providing physician leadership, governance, and vision to the single largest health insurer in Orange County serving over 800,000 members, 7500 primary care doctors and specialists, and over 30 hospitals. Dr. Nguyen is also an expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and was prior diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Nguyen has received many honors and awards for leadership and contributions to the Veteran and the Asian American community. Dr. Nguyen is medically licensed in California.
